Paciltaxel is a mitotic inhibitor that is used as cancer chemotherapy drugs. They are used in the case of ovarian, breast, non-small cell lung cancer etc. It works by stopping the cancer cells from multiplying into new cells, thereby controlling the cancer.

Dosage : 30mg/5ml

How it is Administered

• Injected through a fine tube in the vein
• Through a central line under the skin into the veins of collar bone
• By PICC line, which is inserted into the crook of the arm

Side Effects
There may be some side effects of the drug. In case you experience any of the side effects, immediately contact your doctor.

• Lowered resistance to infection
• Bruising or bleeding
• Anemia
• Sore mouth and ulcers
• Taste changes
• Diarrhea
• Tiredness and feeling weak
• Hair loss
• Aching or pain in joints and muscles
• Changes of skin colour
• Numbness or tingling in hands or feet
• Headaches
• Allergic reaction
• Nausea and vomiting

Precautions

• It can cause pain at the point of injection or along the vein. If you feel such a pain or burning sensation, immediately bring this to the notice of your doctor or nurse
• Tell your doctor about all the prescription and OTC medications you use
• Paciltaxel can have a serious drug interaction with few other medicine and compositions
• Discuss with your doctors about any plans of pregnancy or becoming a father

Oxaliplatin is a platinum based chemotherapy drugs, mainly used for the treatment of bowel cancer (colorectal cancers). Also known as Eloxatin, it is used for treatment of other cancers too.

Dosage : 50mg/25ml, 100mg/50ml

How it is Administered
The platinum based cancer drugs is directly injected in the veins in form of drip (infusion) through a fine needle, cannula. It can also be given through a central line (a tube inserted into a vein in the chest) or a PICC line (a tube inserted into the crook of your arm).

Side Effect
The possible side effects of the drug are given below. However, it is always advised to immediately contact your doctor in case any of the symptoms persist.

• Numbness or tingling in hands or feet
• Lowered resistance to infection
• Bruising or bleeding
• Anaemia (low number of red blood cells)
• Nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Tiredness and feeling weak

Precautions

• Oxaliplatin may cause pain at the point of injections
• Tell your doctor about any other medications you take including prescription, over-the-counter, vitamins and herbal remedies
• It is advisable to discuss any plans of child birth with your doctor.

Vinblastine is an anti-mitotic drug, used for the treatment of various kinds of cancer, including Hodgkin's lymphoma, non-small cell lung cancer, breast cancer, testicular cancer etc.

Dosage:

• Vinblastine: 10mg/10ml
• Vinblastine Lyophilized: 10mg

How it is Administered

• Injected directly into the veins using fine tube (cannula) inserted into the veins of the arms
• Through a central line in the form of drip, which is injected under the skin into a vein near the collarbone
• Using a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line, which is inserted into a vein in the crook of the arm

Precautions

• There may be stinging or burning around the vein while the drug is being administered or in case there is any leakage of fluid from the cannula site, immediately bring it to the notice of your doctor
• The leakage of the drug into the tissue around the vein may cause serious damage to the tissue
• If the area around the interjection becomes red or swollen bring it to the notice of the doctor
• It is advisable to avoid pregnancy or becoming father during the course of treatment or at least after a month
